  • Water the new plants at the base during dry spells until established.  Be generous if you have dry soil.
  • Hand weed around the new plants until established. Avoid spraying weedkillers near your new plants.
  • Feed the new plants during the season with a general shrub and perennial fertiliser available from garden centres & nurseries. Follow the instructions for quantities and timings.
  • Add a new mulch of compost or manure each spring to feed the soil and help retaing moisture.  Do this when the soil surface is moist.
  • If you have laid a membrane over the soil surface, apply a fertiliser to the base of plants in spring and water in well.
